We recommend sending it right away. When someone is grieving the death of a loved one it is important to acknowledge what has happened as soon as possible. In our experience, acknowledgement makes things better even if it can’t make things right.
Our Bereavement Boxes are also a perfect gift to send months or years later, on anniversaries, birthdays or just because. Grieving is a life long journey: your gift will serve as a reminder that you acknowledge this fact and you are still thinking about the deceased person.
We would be happy to help. When writing a condolence/sympathy message we recommend avoiding the use of clichés. Take your time, choose your words carefully and speak from the heart and whenever possible say his/her name.
The following are some examples you are welcome to use:
o I know there are no words that can ease your pain. Please know you are in my thoughts (and prayers) May you find comfort in the wonderful memories that ____________________ left behind.
o My heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the passing of ____________________. One of my fondest memories of _________________ is__________________. Please know he/she will never be forgotten. I will miss him/her deeply.
o I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling right now. My heart breaks with you. It is my hope and intention that the items included are meaningful and helpful to you as you navigate through your grief and mourn ________________. Wishing you healing and peace.
